  1. Ralph, I find your paintings stunningly striking. Your paintings are alive with the passion I sense resides in you. What good’s a painting without passion, mood & content all masterly created. I also love your choice of sizes, making your largest painting 16 x 20. My paintings are 16 x 20 & smaller. I’ve painted in multi-media all my life, hoping to find one or two sizes. That’s good for ordering mats & frames. Reading your ways with gouache made me realize that this is my next media to master. You artwork feels like “home.” I can’t say it any other way. Thank you for your info, time & kind consideration. All My Best, David G.

  2. Hi Ralph, I discovered you by searching for ways to use gouache like oil paint, which, by the way, I thought was impossible. Wow. Your paintings are stunning and you are using Gouache in a way it never occurred to me to try. I am also fascinated by the small size and absolutely blown away that you are able to create, at that scale, work that has the subtlety, depth and presence of much larger paintings. I could stare into them forever. I have long struggled with the pressure to make larger work, and, though I love what I can achieve in oil, have always felt burdened by the chemicals. I am inspired!

    1. Hi Teal, I believe gouache is just as versatile as other mediums in terms of using various techniques. It just has its own specific quirks and characteristics. While I’m experimenting with acrylics these days, I’ll continue to work with gouache. Thanks so much for the nice comments!
